Cold Mountain (Ansal Adams)by fiveriversComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
What a splendid country you live in! To have the Himalayas as an everyday playground must be truly exciting.
I'm pleased to have the opportunity to examine your Cold Mountain image more closely. You have excellent composition and good definition of the topographical features. The one thing I am looking for that is often found in Ansel Adam's photographs is transparency. Perhaps a slightly different time of day, when the fog is not quite so heavy, or a bit of dodging to lighten up areas of fog, or even a careful application of Curves in PS might be the way to get some value change. Or maybe this is as light as it gets - in which case, you take that very nice score you received and be thankful.
But still, you have a splendid image here and it's worth playing with to see if you can make it outstanding.
I look forward to seeing more of your work on DPC.

Returning from the huntby jbsmithanaComment: Interesting. cpanaioti and I are on the same wavelength on this one. (only I confess she was more generous in the scoring than I was.) But I do remember looking at it long and hard and giving it a lot of thought when it came up in the voting sequence. |

Now,aren't you glad you waited? You scored nicely on this fine image of my backyard.
I'm enjoying the light pattern and tonal range of colors in this image. The composition is great of course, although wouldn't it have been super if you could have gotten the entire GGBridge in the frame. I know, I know. Lenses can do only so much.
I have no negative critique to give on this; it's all on the plus side, so after saying again, "well done" I'd better head on to the next image in the queue.
Keep the good ones coming!

Light study in a cavern!?by srdanzComment: Interesting image and difficult to get, I'm sure. It is unfortunate that with all the lovely detail, my eye goes straight to the bit of blue off to one side. |

L'Amour!by TranquilComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
This is the second time I've had the pleasure of critiquing one of your images, and if they are all like the first two, my job would always be an easy one. and yes, I can see why, among all your very good images, it was difficult to select just one.
Again, excellent composition and lighting and a super capture of a tender moment. I have nothing to say, really, that your commentors haven't already said, so with another pat on the back for superb photography, I'll move on to the next image in the queue.
I'll look forward to seeing more of your images on DPC. (Incidentally, you and I have entered exactly the same number of Challenges, 102. Er, your average is higher than mine. ;>)
Best,

Welcome to DPC! I see this is your fourth image and each time you have scored better. Keep up the good work; you'll end up on the front page soon, at this rate.
I love the composition of this image. I'm delighted by the expressions on the faces of each of the players. LIke many of your commentors, I am puzzled by the difference in skin tone from front to back. And I desperately wish there was slightly better focus but with an aperture of 1.6 you got exactly what you exposed for. I can only think that a higher ISO rating might have made a difference. But I don't think I am telling you anything new.
But, still, this is an exciting image and it did score well. (I'll be in Paris towards summer, and know I'll never find a scene this lovely)
IN any event, I'll look forward to seeing more of your images on DPC. |
