time machineby alyamiComment: Really great idea. I wish the focus was just a tad sharper.
But you found a super frame for this image. |

negative pi ringby charlievComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
You tried something different with this image and, unfortunately, it didn't resonate with our voters.
It's an unusual and unique take on the challenge and I commend you for doing it. I do think the contrast could have been boosted a bit to give the hand a little more contrast from the background, and maybe more of the hand could have been in the picture, but these are minor points.
What is important is that you tried something new and different. I think the comment of eqsite is a good one and you can learn a lot from his words.
Keep up the good work! |

Almost Symmetryby mistchild2008Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
What a super image. You wanted to try something different and you succeeded. I know, I know, the scoring didn't reflect what you accomplished, but sometimes that happens.
The balance is just fine here, the branch and the wine glass work well together; um, maybe the red is a bit much... but still, it's a fine idea and one that should have scored higher.
Keep up the good work. |

Oh! It's always fun to see something unusual in the DPC Challenges and this certainly is unusual. Thanks for putting it in competition.
I voted this high when I went through the images and still would do the same. I think it is nicely exposed, the subject matter is just fine and your mask works very, very well.
What's not to like.
So, I'll simply say congratulations on a great idea and move on to the next image in the queue.

Oh, I really like this image. Good lighting and good subject matter for the Symmetry Challenge. Good focusing, good placement in the frame and super color. What's not to like.
It may be that your score isn't as high as it might have been because theere were a number of chess images in the Challenge. Hard to tell.
Certainly you have a good image here. Keep 'em coming. |

Basking in Sunsetby btrinhComment: Greeetings from the critique club
Welcome to DPC. I see you're new to this site, and I hope you are enjoying the competition.
You have a lovely sunset image here and you treated the colors with care. It was a great capture of the bird, and you show it off nicely. I do have something of a problem with your shoreline. It looks a bit tilted, and when water looks tilted, one wonders if it is going to flow out of the picture. (joking) In any event, you have just reason to be pleased with that bird and its surroundings.
I'll look forward to seeing more of your work. |

Fishnetby unknowndeathComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Oh, I get to critique two of your images in the same week!
You have a lovely image here, good colors, nice placement in the frame of the two men, and a great color scheme with the oranges in the sunset and the still waters.
I have a feeling this did not fare as well as it 'should' because it just didn't meet the details of the Symmetry Challenge. Actually, as one of your commenters said, it really is asymmetrical with the two fisherfolk on the right side of the image.
So, you've got a really nice image that just didn't meet what most people felt was the Challenge requirements.
Again, I look forward to seeing more of your very good work. |
