Welcome to Lby stanmooreComment: GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
Hello again. Yes, there really are other members of the Critique Club active at this time. Your images just seem to come up when I click the "Give me an image to critique" button. Although I do see Snaffles did get a crack at one of your images. Actually it's hard for us to tell if you have read them, as you don't mark any of them "helpful." but we'll keep trying if your image comes up in the queue.
Okay, back to work. Of course this is a cute image and I hope you didn't harm any of your glass. It is nicely seen and photographed although it probably would have been fun to see the primary, familiar Canon white lens off center perhaps a bit more, rather than dead center. But you selected that story-telling aspect as the best one to show off your idea and you were there and know what you could do in the scene.
certainly you are getting after the challenge compliments and that is always a welcome sight to see.
I will continue to look forward to seeing more of your work.

Sparklingly Hot!by brightspark567Comment: GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
Welcome to DPC. What fun it is for me to get your first image for a critique. And it is a play on your user name!
You're making a good start, for sure. Well, maybe not in the scoring department, but you did get some very educated comments on why you scored in the bottom tier - and a guide on how to make your images show up well for competition.
You had a good idea and shot it fairly well. Of course it is way too hot at the moment of ignition, and there are filters that can deal with that - the Internet is a good teacher - so I'd like to make a suggestion on composition. It is completely natural to zero in on your subject and make it 'center' on the page which is what you did. You might also (in this case, assuming you had enough sparklers) experiment by putting your camera high, low, to the side, and anything you can think of to safely make this story stand out.
Okay, that's my advice for this time. I do look forward to seeing more of your images in DPC. good luck!

kellmak10, hello! I see we meet again. And you have entered another story-telling picture that certainly conveys the thought of "Hot" with that soaring temperature reading and the background of medicine to bring the temperature down.
My only advice on this one is to keep moving around with that camera. See different angles and ways of telling your story. Arrange your props in unusual ways to make your image stand out against the crowd.
Meanwhile, you appear to be having loads of fun and I continue to wish you the best in your exploration of your camera and the world around you that just cries to be interpreted.
I hope this little critique is helpful to you.
Alice
