The last side-challenge that you introduced and I undertook, kept me busy and learning, not only for that month, but continues on. At the present time my Gallery exhibits are inspired by that side-Challenge. If I get time, I'll post them on the website.
Now you've got me hooked on another one.
Probably this observation is suited more for a PM, but I'll paraphrase and simply say: WOW, you have a lot of knowledge. While I might ask "where did you ever acquire all this great artistry" I'll contain myself to saying "thank you" for sharing your ideas with the rest of us.
Keep 'em coming.
Meanwhile, back to the subject at hand: your image, above, shows a fun way to take things out of the ordinary and present them so that they will never be taken for granted again.

Very nice shadows make for good depth of field.
I can see a couple of crops here that would make fine wall hangings. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Great image. I loved it in competition and still do when I get to look at it again here. There are some of those flowers in an Australian Arboretum in Northern California and they also attract bees. Big, fat beasties!
You did just fine with this one. Yeah, your subjects were a bit far away from each other, but what bokeh in between! I liked the balance very much and while the border (your comments were split on that one) was helpful, I do wish it had been a different, pastel color. Just enough to be 'there' without being obtrusive.
Shooting bees? Just what you are doing; lots and lots of exposures. They are hungry and not apparently very interested in stinging nosy photographers.
All in all, a good image. Keep 'em coming!

Welcome to DPC. I see this is your first entry and hope that it is the first of many. This is a great learning spot for digital photography.
You asked for a critique of your first entry and I'm the member of the Critique Club that has drawn it from the queue. So, here goes:
Your two comments tell most of the story. The bee was a good find, but the technicals needed help. Unfortunately, the bee didn't stick around for you to get more than one shot. My suggestion for good outdoor images, is to practice, and more practice. For example: you might try shooting with a lower ISO and aperture in the neighborhood of F2.8 to F6.3 for practice close-ups in the garden. Your composition is pretty good with the bee in a 'rule of thirds' spot, but the image is, overall, a tad out of focus and very hot.
I do look forward to seeing more of your work. Good luck.

You have presented an interesting and compelling image here and it was rewarded nicely by our voters. That, along with the generous comments you received leave me little work to do.
Your frame, which seems to be in vogue lately, suits the image and at the bottom, actually makes a kind of extension to the picture and leads the viewer into the scene. Nice. Your previous entries tell me that you enjoy black and white work. This is another good example of it. Nice lights and darks where they are needed as you create an atmosphere within your picture story.
I look forward to seeing more of y our work one of these days. Soon, perhaps?

Stunning image and FWIW, I gave it a high score during competition. Your colors are splendid and your perspective is good. The woman in blue is a huge bonus.
You did receive some good comments on this image. The one thing that struck me was that this composition is almost "Half and half." Usually the rule is one third/two thirds and in this case I do think that would have made for a much more effective use of your space. the structure is so beautiful and intricate that it could well have used all the detail you could give it. (And might even have shown up those white doves a bit better.) While frequently the long lead-in of pavement can be effective, in this case it may leave the viewer a little disappointed.
All in all, you received a good score for this good image and I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to look at it again, especially in depth for this review.
I'll look forward to seeing more of your images.
