Spiderwebs - the harshest environment for a flyby RyanWComment: yeah, had a hard job focusing on this one. The action all seemed to go down so fast that i just took a few shots on continuous and this was the most clean of the group.
I was doing the green macro while being buzzed by a fly, i was swatting at him to get away and a few seconds later noticed the spider on the move in the web.
I tried to focus on the fly as much as i could because the spider is fairly obvious even blurred, and i thought if i could get a good shot with the fly in the web it would hold up even in an expert editing challenge.
I'm *trying* to be ambitious in some of my recent shoots, they're just not working out as well as i had hoped and i've had to scrap entire shoots because i just have flaws that most non-photographers would consider minor or inconsequential but would get me torn to shreds here.
Thanks for the vote of confidence that I am getting better though, it's great to hear and really means a lot! :) |

Super heated water geyserby ChandiComment: Regarding you comment on "doesn't belong in expert editing", this is a misconception that many people have.
You can still submit great shots like this without having to use all sorts of touch-up tools, it just gives you the opportunity to use them if you wish. |

Amethysts in the sunsetby RyanWComment: yes, i know, horrible DoF. I didn't like it either but as i said in details, i followed the specs that a friend wanted me to try and now i've got a second brown ribbon.
ugh, so many times i wanted to self-dq this image..... i should have. :( |
