Good stuff. The background really is the strongest part, with the spider being close to the right amount of blur and the fly being half-way there.

Also feels a bit grainy, like there is a bit too much crop, but that's forgiveable.

yeah, had a hard job focusing on this one. The action all seemed to go down so fast that i just took a few shots on continuous and this was the most clean of the group.
I was doing the green macro while being buzzed by a fly, i was swatting at him to get away and a few seconds later noticed the spider on the move in the web.

I tried to focus on the fly as much as i could because the spider is fairly obvious even blurred, and i thought if i could get a good shot with the fly in the web it would hold up even in an expert editing challenge.

I'm *trying* to be ambitious in some of my recent shoots, they're just not working out as well as i had hoped and i've had to scrap entire shoots because i just have flaws that most non-photographers would consider minor or inconsequential but would get me torn to shreds here.

Thanks for the vote of confidence that I am getting better though, it's great to hear and really means a lot! :)

I would like to have something to focus on. Soft everywhere.

The spotlit background really puts the focal point on the out of focus spider and that fights for control with the more in focus fly. It gives the image a certain tension that is unique and also complimentary to the tension between the predator and prey.

Definitely harsh for the fly, great DOF

I really want to give this a higher vote. I wish something, anything, was a little more in focus. Right now the fly and the spider are both out of focus.
