Blown Glassby ImablessedComment: This is a very pretty ornament. I think it would be more effective if you came in even closer - or lacking that, cropped it tighter. Just the ball and the gold ribbon, without all the extra needles - and certainly without the dead black portions - would jump off the screen. |

Cat Eye'sby FullyFocusedComment: Great shot. How do you get the cat to sit still for a closeup like this? Mine would never stand for it! |

Hoarfrostby jodiecostonComment: This is one of nature's beautiful patterns, and you have captured it nicely. Excellent detail on the foreground and nice lighting to bring out the texture. IMHO it could be cropped at the left to remove some of the out-of-focus portions. |

Lashing Outby buzzrockComment: Nice closeup, but the subject doesn't have enough inherent interest to carry the photo, and the depth of field falls off too much. |

The Cutting Edge of Gemologyby drgsoellComment: I like the luster of the gemstone, but the metallic texture of the blade seem lost completely - it looks more like wood. This might need a second light or a reflector to bring out the details of the dual subject. |

Apple On The Edgeby PoobaComment: I think more even lighting would improve the effect of the "edge" below the apple. |

Manhattan to the East River to Queens to the Edge of the Earthby deadd0gComment: Nice capture of midtown Manhattan and part of Queens. I'd like it a little brighter; I think this would bring out the detail better. I grew up in New York, and I believed the city limits represented the ends of the world, but having lived in other places I have come to realize there is a great world outside of the five boroughs. |
