Oh, that's a beautiful mystery! My first thought was that the figure on the left is a monk hiding the recipe of the ambrosian liquor that he makes from the fruit of an unknown weed (a true story of the chartreuse liqueur).
Must say that I have a fondness for a picture that makes me think immediately of a story, or make one, or reminds me of a smell or a painting or an unknown longing. This is one of them, and there were a few in this challenge, as befitting its "theme".

A very powerful picture of all the fear of childhood. But I feel that it was too much worked on and it lost the candid quality, that all the trebling was not there and just added - I think that I do not make myself too clear. But I like this shot a lot though and for the boy's little sweaty hands I keep it for a long time in front of me.

It surely works for me. Perhaps a little too blunt for Ben's style, but a very tragic and endearing image in its own. I suspect the photographer's identity and I just shake his hand.

Very nice. Yes, the emotion is visible. I can picture also a wooden old table top and a small glass of red wine with fingerprints on it. But that's another story.

This is a true candid and funny shot soaked in the childhood tenderness. I love the little boy on the left of the image and if it wasn't for his leg, I would have cropped the two adults in the picture. Adorable.
