Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is an interesting shot. It meets the challenge without a doubt but there is something about it that both fasinates me and bothers me. It's well done, the composure, the clarity overall but there is touch of graininess that seems just a bit, a very little bit much. Also the negative space around the edge seems a bit much to me. While the subject is well centered and certainly draws your attention because it is brighter than the rest the large amount of border or black space ends up being a distraction to me.

The color of the white on the clock face seems a bit dark also and yes, my monitor is calibrated. I think if it was a more sharp contrast, brighter, popped out more it might have done a bit better.

I like this shot overall and hope this helps.

Hi! This is a wonderful shot and a good subject for the challenge. What jumps out at me as possible flaws are lighting and shadows.

The glare on the top left part of the circle behind the cross is very distracting. Not sure if that is a spot light or flash glare but it really hurt the shot to me. Also all the shadows, it adds too much to the shot, it becomes confusing and distracting. I do like the angle of the shot and the conversion to black and white works very well with this shot. Just a touch more contrast could really make this shot pop.

Hope this helps!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

It's been a while since I've done any critiques, so bear with me here. As I just told the blue ribbon winner for this challenge Impressionism is not one of my favorite types of art but this challenge opened my eyes to many possiblities.

This is a really nice shot overall and the water and some of the leaves really come across with the impressionism feeling but there are more leaves that don't. It's hard to explain but the sharper looking leaves take away from the rest of the shot.

I don't know what kind of post processing you did on this shot and I guess with impressionism it's not supposed to be bright but the lack of any contrast despite the different color leaves seems off just a bit.

I'm sorry you didn't get someone who knows a little more about this type of shot but you got a lot of good critiques already.

I have to admit, normally I'm not a big fan of Impressionism but this one is just fantastic! I figured out how you did it when I saw it but it still was just so perfect! The only thing that threw me was the easel backing but that was cleared up in the explaination. Fantastic job, wonderful work and I just love it!

Yes it is but you have to almost search for it. It gets lost in the rest of the shot, the sand, the trees are all fighting for my attention, a closer shot of the house with beacon would really help this shot jump out more at me. Or even the dunes or the sea or lake behind you. A 7

How lucky to find these! I like the design of the hay stacks but the overall composition of the shot doesn't really appeal to me. I tried my magic envelope and think a tighter crop on the right, leaving the main haystack as the focus might make it appeal to me more. Also the late afternoon soon really didn't help this, the colors are great but the light is still a bit harsh. A 7

That does look delicious. But a few little things grabbed my attention, one the strawberry is upside down to me. If it was turned over it would look more like a little heart. The white background is very nice but the shallow DOF bothers me for some reason. If it was just a bit deeper it might appeal to me more. I started at a 7 but am raising to a 8

Good clear focus, nice catching of the water droplets, technically a wonderful shot, good composition on the man holding the, what is he holding? Cutting off the top leaves me wanting. Also just a tad more contrast would really help this pop, a 7

I really like this shot and really want to like ti more but the soft focus just doesn't seem to work for me. There seems to be a lot of grain in the grass and the line of light on the mountains is just a little too straight to me, can't quite explain it, almost too perfect and if that is the way you caught it, GOOD JOB! But the lack of contrast hurts this shot for me. A 7
