The first pass I did on voting I gave Blackie a 6 and upon further and longer inspection I'm trying to figure out what it was that made me do that. The only thing I can think or see is the edging, I'm not a big fan of this type of border, it takes away from the subject. And maybe it was the blue color and the shadow on the left side of the neck. But after taking more time with this shot, there is no way I can leave it at a 6, that would be a crime and I would have to be severly licked to death by Blackie for such an insult. Am raising to an 8

OMG! The expression just makes you LOL! I bet this little one is a bundle of Joy that keeps you on your toes!

Very nice shot but the focus is a bit off and the lighting is a bit harsh. I love the tongue sticking out though, very cute! A 6

I bet Zake loves his frisbee! He looks like he does!

Zake is beautiful, the black and white is wonderful, almost makes me wonder what this would look like in gray scale. I ask because the green/brown/tan grass is competing for attention with Zake and as cute as he is, all attention should be on him! Maybe a different crop as well? His back foot is sticking out funny, was it injured or deformed? If you crop that out, leaving the upper body, head and frisbee I think it might look much better. A 6

Jake is beautiful! So handsome! I used to have a dog named Jake but he was an English Springer Spaniel! This is a lovely shot, just a few things that jump out at me, first the lighting, the shadows on the collor area are a tad distracting. And the fur on the lower right side is starting to blow out, not quite there but close. Mayber a tighter crop on the bottom just above the buckle would help with that?

Second the backtround, it almost ends up blending with the dog instead of helping him stand out and the shadow and lines coming in on the right are a tad distracting, again nothing major, just little things. And did you dodge or burn any of this? There seems to be a dark halo around Jake in some areas, that is very distracting. I had this at a 6 but Jake is so wonderful and so loyal (I can tell from his expression) I am raising it to a 7

And just who is he howling or yelling at? :)

Very cute candid, nice capture, good DOF on the cat to the roses and the lighting is a tad bit harsh, just a tad. I think you could have cropped more of the roses out, leaving just one or two so the cat really becomes the main focus and isn't just half the picture. A 6

Aww, Peanut is a doll! So cute, the sad eyes, the forlorn look!

Nice capture, very candid and real. The scene looks like it might have used a flash to get the light, I'm guessing from the darker background. A tighter crop on the face might really bring out Peanut's personality more, as it's set up now he's competing with the rock on the right and the table or rock he's laying on. A 6

OMG, too cute! I like the duotone with this shot, very well done, not overstated and not too bright.

Just a couple of things bother me, first the crop or composition of the shot. The focus is on the cat's face so everything right of the door with the cat's face is not necessary. If it was solid and providing negative space in that manner it would be one thing but it's not and it ends up competing for the cat's face. And by cropping out the right you also take away my second distraction, the moving string. A 6

ROFLMAO! Too cute! But I have a feeling that little guy has absolutely no problem at all taking on that big hydrant, little dogs are the toughest, I know, I have two of them, LOL!

This is a nice shot but it seems to focus more on the hydrant than the dog itself. Very good humor but not really portrait style. The light is a bit harsh, maybe a slight adjustment in levels or curves to tone down the light but really make the colors come out? Or even a conversion to black and white, lots of tones there to work with! A 6

You are so mean! The poor dear! :)

This is a cute shot but overdone with the props. The stuffed dog, the bandana, the back drop are all competing with a very adorable bunny rabbit! Get a plain background, black would be wonderful with this little one and get rid of all the other stuff. The lighting looks decent, I'm thinking it might be from a window? If so, great! A 6

Clyde is one cool cat, no doubt! I love the pose, the backgroun with the exception of the jeans in teh back on the right? Look like someone was sitting there? Also the flash is a bit much, maybe different lighting? A 6
