Sam Samby PhotoRynoComment: Sam is so precious! I love little dogs like these, so cute and trusting and loyal!
This is a nice shot, the composition works well with the extra room on the left and the DOF also works well here. My only complaint is the coloration, his ear seems so orange compared to the rest of him and if that's the way he is, sorry but it just seems a bit over done for some reason. A 6 to start but Sam is talking to me saying if he doesn't at least gat a 7 he's going to come over and chew up all my wires so I'll give you an 8 just to be safe! :) |

George by Rando D300Comment: Awwwwwwwwwww, George is beautiful! How many treats did he get for being so patient? LOL!
I love this shot, just one tiny little thing kept it from being perfect and I originally scored it at a 9 but the one thing is so tiny I'm going to overlook it and make this a 10. Oh, the one thing? The white stray hair on his ear. :) |

Just You and I.....by dwterryComment: The title made me think of the song with the same name, LOL!
A girl and her best friend, a black dog, a very hard to capture on film or digital black animal. I know, there are 4 black horses at the barn and 2 black cats in my home and it's pure luck when I get a good shot of them, LOL!
I like the idea but it's not really about friends or pets and their owners, it's more the pets themselves. The back lighting is a bit too much, just a slight smudgen too much, causing the dark dog to look even darker with no real defining feature. Cut the girl out, play with the levels and you got a contender there! As is a 6 |

Hey! I called shotgun seat!by Glen KingComment: Yes he does! Love the expression on his face.
The shot is lacking in light and luster. Nothing really jumping out at me and making me say, "THIS IS THE ONE!" It's a great shot but the dull colors and bit of noise are all a bit distracting and takes too much from the shot. A 6 |

Minnieby michael_pComment: MINNIE!!! So cute! I too have a terrier and aren't they just the most fun! Mine is a silky and he's king of the hill around here! Bet your little one is as well! ;)
Nice shot, lovely grass, but the back lighting from the sug ends up almost bllowing out the hair on his head and darkens the face too much for me. A 6 |

Petsby mikasiComment: Interesting,I can even see the collar on the human pet as well.
Nice idea but doesn't really fit this challenge in the spirit it was intended simply because the viewer is immediately distracted by the lovely young naked lady and the cat get lost in the tonal ranges. A 6 for clever idea nad not bad shot. |

Jamaica Dreams of Summertimeby gilesletherenComment: Don't we all dream of summertime, especially as I sit here in my blanket shivering, LOL!
Very nice shot, the quiet nap like state, the cropping is all done very well. The lighting is nice, but the background is a bit of a distraction. I had this at a 6 but am bumping to an 8 |

Pet Butterflyby purelandstudentComment: A pet butterfly, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!
And I have a pet fly! But the pesky little bugger wouldn't sit still for me so I swatted him, LOL! Just teasing. You get a point for creativity but sadly, lose a point for not getting a frontal view of said pet so it balances out :)
This is a lovely shot and any other challenge would have easily gotten an 8 or 9 from me but since it's pushing the imagination to make it fit the challenge and the flower or whatever that is in the lower right corner is blown out, you will have to settle for a 6, hope that's okay :) |

Dogglesby K-RobComment: Hahaha, very cute! Nice candid, humorour shot! Wish I could see those eyes though@ ;) The light on his ear is blown out a bit and the DOF of the ear compared to the rest of the shot just doesn't seem quite right, seems it should be a bit sharper. A 6 |

Haku Blu - Japanese Kunsisar Rat Snakeby theSajComment: Cool snake, I love snakes, used to hate them but only because my mother did, a snake never did anything to me!
This is a nice picture but not really a portrait to me. You are looking all over the place for the subject's head and the background is very distracting. Also the lighting is a bit harsh for this shot and the DOF doesn't really work well, part of the snake fuzzy, part clear. A 6 |
