The Midnight Thiefby PaulkComment: This is either one lucky, once in a lifetime shot or this fox is stuffed :) I like the idea of the fox being exposed, caught per say while scavenging is a very good take on the challenge. The clarity and cropping is wonderful but the lighting is too much for me. I just can't see a fox coming this far into this bright a light unless it was really hungry but if the shot is in a display you might not have had a lot of control on that. I'm starting with an 8 on this one but I will be back. |

Bare Againby katlynComment: I had this same idea but decided to go with something else. It is that time of year when the trees go naked again, get exposed for the winter per say. So naturally I love the idea but the shot leaves me wanting. It's very busy, jumbled and hard to pinpoint on any one area. The focus is also wanting throughout the shot, maybe if you had stepped back just a bit and worked with the entire tree depending on it's surroundings. The lighting is good, not to bright, not too dark. I'm starting at a 5 with this one but I'll be back to look again. |

Naturally Goodby channeledComment: YUM!! Walnuts! Okay, not really, not my favorite nut but you made them look good! I like the cropping on this shot and the concept overall. The lighting does bother me though, too much yellow, a little bit brighter and I would start this one a little higher. I'm starting with a 7 but I will be back. |

Fighting for exposure against all oddsby Bela45Comment: Is this a mushroom? It's hard to tell at first but I'm guessing that is what it is. The shot is well done, the concept is great but the lighting seems a bit harsh and the colors are almost too sharp around the outside of the shot. I'm starting this one at a 7 but I will be back. |

Metamorphosis: Newly Eclosed Monarch by indigo997Comment: A Monarch Butterfly, my favorite. We did this one year at the Science Center where I worked and it was an amazing thing to watch. Did you get to see it come out?
The colors are wonderful, the cropping is wonderful and having the cocoon in the shot, knowing that HUGE butterfly came out of that tiny little vessle is so well done. I am having a hard time finding fault with this shot at all. My 6th 10 this challenge, well done. |

Lost City of Pompeii.....Revealedby ChiquiComment: Wow, the work that went into this shot so you could take it! You must have been shoveling ash all week! ;) Just kidding, the shot is wonderful, the colors, the lighting, the way the pillers take you across the shot is fantastic. My only complaint is the modern buildings in the background, if you could have come at another angle where there were no buildings or such it would be perfect. I'm starting at an 8 but will be back. |

An Impacted Wisdom Toothby GolferDDSComment: OUCH!!!!!! Looks like there is one on the other side too! This is an interesting shot, don't think I've ever seen a mouth x-ray from the front like that. The cropping is done very well but the only thing that throws me is the lack of light in this shot. It seems it should be more back lit like an x-ray would be when being viewed. Also the pen throws me a bit, a dental tool would have really made the shot, perhaps a pick. I'm starting this one at a 7 but I will be back. |

Exposed To the Cold Worldby sagestudioComment: Is this your child? If so, she is wonderful at expressions. The sadness mixed with the sense of loss is so close to perfect. The setting of this shot is also great. The lines take you around the entire shot, cutting off the bottom draws you in, pulls you around the opening at the top takes you out or reverse! The black and white works well with this shot, but the contrast seems just slightly off to me, it might be my monitor but I have adjusted it to the grayscale bar on the bottom. I'm starting at a 9 but will be back. |

The Cupby GallatinComment: Oh that poor man, I hope you put something in his cup after you took the shot. He looks so desolate and sad. I know you titled the shot The Cup but to me you are also exposing the homeless situation, so many times we walk right by these people and never really see them. The Black and white effect is perfect for this shot, the cropping is wonderful and I really cannot find fault with this shot at all. Some will probably tell you it doesn't really meet the challenge and dock you for that but not me, a 10. My fifth one this challenge! |

Cog in the Machineby kostiaComment: Yes it is true you don't get to see this part of the machinery very often and the macro shot on this is wonderful the clarity in the front fading to the out of focus in the background. The colors could be slightly brighter, the green is a bit dull for me and I would really have liked this better seeing it inside an actual peice of machinery, it would have packed a bigger impact for me. I'm starting this one at a 7 but I will be back. |
