Shovel and Snow

Shovel and Snow

Another great idea but the shot left me wanting. The motion of the shovel, the snow falling all makes for a very busy picture and nothing really to focus on and catch my eye and keep it there. I would possibly put the shovel upright in a snow bank or have it on the sidewalk full of snow. A 5

"Salt and Pepper" Shakers!

I almost did this shot too! I tried a couple of different ways but couldn't get it to work for me. This is not a bad shot but the salt and pepper getting cut off on the bottom hurts the shot and all the stray seasoning is very distracting. Also the light is a bit harsh it would seem. A 5

Well, yes they do go together but not quite like this in my mind, LOL! I would expect fish net stockings to start and to be able to see the heel of the shoe, a shot from behind or the side would have much more impact for me. The bare leg above the stocking is distracting as is the sweater that is hanging down. Perhaps a tighter crop on the top? Also the way the legs are positioned rather strangely to me, not sure quite what you were going for. A 5

Hippos and water, together forever without a doubt. I'm guessing this is a zoo shot so you really didn't have a lot of control over the set up. THe lighting and focus is wonderful and the overall cropping is also well done but not being able to see the front of the face is a bit off putting to me. At first I didn't like this shot overall because it seemed a bit dark to me but upon a second look I see that really works well for this shot. Started with a 5, moving to an 8

They do go together without a doubt. But the graininess of this shot really bothers me. That might be what you were going for but for me personally, there are very few shots where graininess works and this is not one of them. The catching the duck in mid flight is excellent but it looks more like he's ready to land on land than water also. Picky, I know but since they are supposed to be together. A 5

needle and thread

I really like the idea, almost did it myself! The shot is well done, the needle almost looks like it's floating in mid air, the way you set it up is very nice. The DOF is a good idea but the thread in the background is almost too fuzzy and the end of the spool getting cut off is a bit distracting. If the single thread was in focus with the needle and the spool was out of focus I think I would like this shot much more. A 5 to start, moving to a 7

They certainly go together, at least 3 times a day in my life! This is a great idea but I think it would work better if the light wasn't so bright, the bottom of the toothbrush blends in so much with the bottom of the picture and the while it's nice that the toothpaste and bristles are almost the same color a bit of contrast might be better for this shot. Also the neck of the tube is almost blinding on my monitor which has been calibrated, the threads are lost on the center part of it.

This is a very classy shot but the soft focus doesn't really work for me on this for some reason. I like it but it doesn't feel quite right, maybe it's just a tad too soft? And how in the world did you get that Oreo to sit on the glass like that without it breaking? Started at a 5, moving to a 7

This is a very good idea but the actual shot leaves me wondering. The top bubble getting cut off really hurts the shot and the glare on the bottom bubble is very distracting. The overall shot looks a bit washed out and out of focus. A 4

This is a very interesting shot overall. I like the effect and would love to know how you acheived it.

But alas, as interesting as it is the quality of the shot leave me wanting. The out of focus on the bulb part and candle really leaves me wanting. More clarity and focus would really make this pop. Also if the light could have been limited to the bulb itself for some reason and completely black around it. Started with a 4 moving to a 5
