I'm thinking this is a shot of a peephole or camera lens, not quite sure which. The blur from moving the camera or the reflection on the top part is very distracting.A 3

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hi! This is a lovely overall shot and I originally gave it a 7 during the challenge.

What threw me off initially in the challange and still does now is the cropping to start. I'm guessing you were going for the rules of 1/3 with the off center crop and I think it would work very well if the center of the flower was more to the right and down just a hair.

You said you only adjusted the brightness but I wonder if you did anything with the coloration also because of the blue tint that is coming across on my monitor. Or was that the lighting that you used? I like the tint, it's very surreal which really works with this shot.

The border is unique but also a bit distracting to me personally. Also while the shot is sharp, it's coming across with a very soft focus and the white area above the bud is a bit overbright to me. Perhaps a different angle so it's a leave behind the buds?

I hope this helps and should you decide to do any of the changes I offered I would love to see the redone work! But it is a great shot as is!

Good Luck In Future Challenges!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hi! I really like this shot but then again anything with an animal automatically gets extra points from me, LOL!

You are right in that you probably lost points for not having the water as the main focus but the clarity on the duck is amazing and the overall DOF works very well for this shot. I like the cropping on the right side, you are brought into the shot by either corner, the tree in the upper corner, the duck's neck in the lower corner. The left side leaves me a bit disoriented though. I put my hand up trying to see what might make it work a little better for me and I'm thinking just a little tighter crop, either so the tree borders the left side or crop right inside the tree so the water is all on the left seems a bit more composed to me.

The lighting and shadows on this shot are wonderful, I love sunlight shots too.

Hope this helps!

Oh, I like this idea! Very unique and different! The title fits very well but the handle are distracating. I would love to see this with a tighter crop and the blades at the same angle. A 9

How pretty and the DOF is very well done, I like the cropping, the composure of the shot and the black background works very well with this shot. A 10!

Very interesting, I like the idea and the way the fruit is lighted up from behind but for some reason I'm thinking this could be just a tad sharper, not completely sharp but just a tad. And the heavy black border really detracts from the overall shot. A 7
