she waitsby mandyturnerComment: Nice tones and softness Mandy. I agree with Ken--a bit more emphasis on the shadow and you would have done better in the challenge, but it's a great shot in general. If you cover up some of the right side of this, just to the right of your left elbow, it shows how much stronger the shadow becomes in the composition, and still looks nice from the person point of view. (But I gave you a 7 not a 6 like that cheapskate Ken ;)

Below the Surfaceby sir_bazzComment: One of my 10's. Great job. I like the way it's framed in the circular distorted ground, it gives it even more dynamics. |

Only The Juggler Knowsby ColeyComment: This was one of my ribbon picks, I think the shadow and the angle/distortion gives this a very nice artistic flare. Perhaps a touch more contrast might have been good, but I really liked it. Gave it a 9. Congrats on top 20 anyway!
Edit: and yes, I was pretty sure it was yours! Message edited by author 2006-02-10 00:23:15. |

The Caped Crusader Within by GIS_boyComment: What an amazing photo. I gave this a 10 and I'm glad to see it won. Great imagination, and moreso, carried out with great class.
Edit: Forgot to say... Congrats! Message edited by author 2006-02-10 00:07:32. |

Hillside Sunriseby GeneralEComment: Paul, I am sure your alternates would have done better just on the color wow factor alone. But I like this one better. Perhaps if you did a little more work with the sky. The darker clouds almost look like a defective/dirty area here. This is one of those that would do better with some more sky detail--the clouds are very faint here. Maybe they could have been brought out with PP, maybe not. |

Micro Botanyby yantskiComment: I'm writing without reading the others so I give you my take. The shot has a nice feel to it, tone wise, being subdued and almost like a natural tritone. It looks nice and sharp to me.
I think your score suffered a bit because the subject is not strongly featured here, neither by composition or lighting. The light is actually nicely dramatic, but it would be much more dramatic if the light were mainly on the subject flowers.
