Personally I think Fire and Ice is hard to pull off. Lots of people tried in this contest, and most fell short. Your "fire" is overblown, and your "ice" is rather oddly shaped, in terms of composition. Plus, you have blue artifacts on the right hand side of the shot.

I had this idea as well, and didn't do it, for the same reason that your picture runs into problems -- how does one make white grains of sugar interesting? The table top background is not helping, and the composition of the lemon and sugar isn't particularly engaging. Yes, the picture meets the challenge but aside from that, there's not much going on here to reward the eye.

Why the question mark in the title? This shot doesn't hold much interest. The colors are so-so, the lines appear out of focus, and the cropping is a bit awkward (especially at the top left and right corner). Might try a top down picture to eliminate the underside of each piece.

Black and White Apples and Oranges

First of all, i don't get your title. If the b&w has to do with the tray and background, okay, I guess I get it. Second, i don't think apples and oranges represent opposites so much as they represent things that are different (and often not comparable). So I don't think you met the challenge. That said, putting the apple skin over the orange is quite clever.

I love this picture because of the little dog especially, but I'm not seeing any obvious Opposites. Sure, I can find things that are opposite (big dog, little dog) but the picture doesn't say OPPOSITE first, and foremost. Cute shot though.

I like this idea, and it meets the challenge nicely and creatively. I think the picture would be improved if the sides of the game board formed the edges of the picture (no table showing). You'd have to shoot straight down on the game board. I also think it would have been better in color to take advantage of those colored squares.

Meets the challenge, but otherwise rather boring picture. Sorry! Way too much negative space and there's no story here that I can see. Just front and back of a coin.

This is a cute photo. I like the negative space, the repetition of the Budweiser crates, and the position of the dog. That said, it's a bit of a stretch to think of this as a photo to illustrate OPPOSITES, although the title conveys the point. It's a good capture, and I gave you a six, but I wouldn't chose this picture to illustrate a story on OPPOSITES. 6

Looks to me like a tough shot to set up, so that means it's probably pretty simple, lol. In any event, you've met the challenge very nicely. Good action, colors, background. Would have had even more "pop" if there was a hand holding the red handles. Ouch!
