Sweat Bee by VitaminBComment: Super impressed with this one. The level of macro detail is awesome, of course, but I think what really elevates it for me is actually the complementary shades of green and pink here. It gives this a tonal softness that pairs well with the "pointed" elements. |

Echoes of the City by markwileyComment: I know cityscapes like this are somewhat cliche as reflections, but the sheer majesty of execution here is undeniable. |

Exit Stage Leftby glad2badadComment: My personal favorite this challenge. This is the kind of minimalist sighting that creates a mood where others might only see twigs. |

Into The Shadowsby GolferDDSComment: Simply exquisite photography in my book. Personally, I'm a fan of the sun as it is, but that may be because it works in tandem with the color grading to convey a sense of late summer heat. |

Deep Conversationby l0lOl0lComment: I lingered for a long time on this one. It really does reward an extended viewing, and it's the sort of gallery piece that deserves to be a medium-format conversation-starter rather than a casual viewing curio on a website. :-D |

Departuresby MelethiaComment: I'm definitely going to have to look up that film now. A lovely shot, even if the reference was lost on me without your backstory. |

T I M E and Spaceby LydiaComment: Glad to see this one on the front page. Honestly thought it would probably take the blue. It strikes a very compelling--and unsettling--balance between surreal evocation and whimsical absurdity. Very distinctive artistic statement--yet one that's elusively articulated. A chef's kiss there.
On a side note, I'm really interested to find out how you accomplished the levitation effect so convincingly. |
