I'm not really getting the feeling of loneliness or solitude from this image, actually he looks content and sleepy to me! The colors seem a bit flat/dull too, but that could be the light hitting the fur. I like the details of the face, and the subject itself is interesting. It doesn't seem to bring across the feelings of the challenge for me is all. 5

Great idea! I like the choice of black and white, really brings out the starkness of the image and I've noticed it helps enhance the feelings of solitude or loneliness. The perspective is great, I don't like the border though, seems too much. I wish the lighting wasn't quite so glaring on the right side of the person, but that's a little concern really. Very nice capture. 8

Certainly is alone! I like the play of color against the grey, the use of space helps increase the feeling of alone. The focus looks pretty good as is the use of natural lighting. That said, the image doesn't pop for me, its technically good but is missing a spark in my opinion. 6 due to tech. merit, would've been higher if the interest factor was there for me.

Very nice affect, really gives the image a soft look which helps heighten the feeling of alone - especially since it brings out the solitary figure's sharpness against the background. I love the mood of this image. Great job 8

The Apple

Wow I like this image! It took me awhile to figure out its apple nature (even with the title) It looks like a fist to me sort of. Keeps my attention. Use of light is great, I like that it has a bar effect on it, instead of the usual unbroken light. Black and white really works for this, adds to the striking nature. The harsh light spots are the only major downside I see, but even that isn't too bad. Well done. 8

Excellent lighting and tones. I love the texture visible on the jug/vase. The focus is superb on the jug, I do wish it extended to the grain of wheat which looks a little soft to me. I like the simplicity of the subject: both the vision and techincal aspects have been accomplished admirably. Well done. 10

Interesting image! I like the color and feel of it. Has a very cool tone. Great lighting and focus is on target. Just wish that you couldn't see whatever that is behind the doors (the lights?). Otherwise it holds together nicely and is a very nice photo. 7

The Flame

Good focus and lighting. Fits the challenge well and I like the use of space. Unfortunately I don't find the subject terribly interesting. Its missing a spark of something to take it up to a higher level for me. I think it is technically sound though. 6 due to good technique, would've been higher if that spark was there.

Great subject! The lighting brings out the colors well and keeps it looking like it is set in a bar, instead of a stale light from a supermarket. Very warm tones to it. I like the clarity of the picture, good focus. Fun image! 7

Popcorn Anyone?

The frenzy of the popcorn machine! I really like the clean aspect of this image. The light makes things nice and crisp and there's good focus for the most part. In fact, the brilliance of the machines caught my eye so well I didn't realize there were people in the image for awhile. This could be a boring image, but I think the perspective and lighting gives it that bit of oomph. Nice job 7
