A black tailed Prairie Dog (actually a relative of the squirrel) in San Francisco Zoo. Even though there was dozens of them running around, this close crop and that stare gives a feeling of isolation - even though it's lying with it's head on another's back...

Can't really see if he is alone or not. Crop to tight. Need to pull back and see the whole prairie dog.

The animal does look rather lonely. Good focus and DOF. But I think the low contrast detracts from the effect in this photo.

Doesn't seem like he's alone. Is he (or she) resting on another prairie dog?

very sweet image, nice soft focus, but isn't there another prairie dog curled up ?

I'm not really getting the feeling of loneliness or solitude from this image, actually he looks content and sleepy to me! The colors seem a bit flat/dull too, but that could be the light hitting the fur. I like the details of the face, and the subject itself is interesting. It doesn't seem to bring across the feelings of the challenge for me is all. 5

Is lacking on the contrast side, but otherwise good. Cute even!

Nice close up, but whilst the creature may be the only one in the shot, doesnt portray a sense of loneliness. Unless I suppose you consider it's expression. OK, in that way, yes, it does. Well done :)

Nice photo, but nothing in it says "alone" to me.
