Empty and waiting

Looks quite empty and lonely indeed! I'm guessing flash was used - it lit everything up just right. Focus is good, colors are well indicated. I would prefer to not have the branch up in the corner or the pale bit of sky in the background. Possibly centering the shot a bit lower, so you'd be able to crop out the top and leave in the bottom that's currently missing is a suggestion. Also waiting until it is completely nighttime, so that you'd have a nice inky black background would keep the distracting lighter colored corner a non-issue. Just suggestions of course. A good image overall. 6

Loner

Nice capture. I like the lighting on both the water and the pillars, gives a good contrast of warm and cool tones. Fits the challenge fairly well in the 'all alone' aspect, not sure I feel loneliness or solitude though. I think if the other pillar were cropped out it would give it a boost in that direct. I wish the seagull was more in focus/sharper. Nice composition and a good photo. Well done. 6

A nice image, the model's expression seems a little distant and/or unhappy. Could be construed as lonely, so I think it fits the challenge well. The colors in the background look washed out and the harsh light blown out. Also, I'd prefer the model to be completely in focus, it seems a bit soft to me. I like the way the natural lighting brings out the glow in the skin, and the pose is very nice. 5

Solitary Man

Fits the challenge well, I like the difference in warm and cool tones mixing. Really helps the man stand out from the background. The colors are good, use of natural light is good as well. Would like a little more sharpness to the edges. A solid photo. 6

I like the vision behind this image. The lines are wonderful, I like the lighting as well. I wish the focus was a little sharper though. Also, the crop of it makes me feel like only part of the story has been told. I wish more of the couch was shown - I think it would help increase the alone feel if a larger expanse of empty couch was visible. Nice job. 6

Waiting

These are hands that look like they could tell a number of stories. Nice positioning of them, gives me a sense of worry or upset. I like the b&w choice, makes the shadows and light really stand out. Excellent use of light as well. Great focus, I like the textures shown. Great image. 9

Two's Company Three's A Crowd

Interesting image, I like the use of focus to help further alienate the single marble. Colors come out fairly well, lighting is nice too. I wonder how it would work with the focus point being reversed, if the same solitary feeling would be achieved. I think the border is a little distracting, mostly because its lighter than the background of the photo and pulls my eyes away. Nice image. 6

Nice blue undertone to the photo, carries the rainyday theme well. The lighting is good and helps give a slight sense of solitude, I like the composition with the subject off to the side instead of in the middle. Nice focus, good colors. A sound photo. 7

I think this one would work well for shadows too. Nice play of the shadow on the snow, the form is well defined and easy to determine what it is. Has a good 'story' to it. Not sure I feel solitude or lonely from the image though it does fit 'all alone'. Nice use of natural light, good focus. A fun and interesting image, well done. 7

A Lone Rider

I like the contrast between machine and nature, and the composition works very well. Especially like that the car isn't right in the middle. Good play between the muted colors of the ground and the brightness of the clouds and sky. I think the energy of the piece, looks as if the car is driving somewhere to me, lessens the feeling of solitude/loneliness.. but I do think it fits the 'all alone' part. Would prefer a little sharper focus throughout the image. Other than that, a nice solid photo. 7
