Focus is good, lighting works well. Its an interesting set up in general but I think the image in the mirror looks too busy. Also the subject loses impact because of the flash and general composition - looks a little thrown together. I really like the idea though, and think in a different circumstance using that method would work very well (without a big flash light) ;) 5

Beautiful image, I love the duotone. Would like a less tight crop so there's some breathing room on the left. Focus is marvelous, I like the lighting as well. I'm finding only a tenuous connection to a feeling of solitude or loneliness as outlined by the challenge, but it does meet generally. Lovely work. 7

Good use of the lighting, focus is good overall. I like the concept, fits the challenge, but compositionally I think I would've preferred to see the dog further along the road. Taken so close, the feeling of being lost is reduced for me. I really like the distance shown. Very nice. 7

Alone on the Play Ground

Nice use of light and b&w. Gives a good darker mood to the image. Though the subject isn't alone, I do get a feeling of solitude. Focus helps remove the girl from the background, which enhances that feeling. Very well done. 7

I love the crispness of this image. Excellent focus. Lighting is good, highlights the subject well. I think its a unique idea to portray all alone. I don't get the feelings of loneliness or solitude mentioned in the challenge details, but I think it still fits the challenge generally. Well done. 7

Not Alone So Much Longer

I like the length of the image, different from many. The darker lighting helps make the photo moodier and the perspective is good. I like the composition, but being that its supposed to be all alone, the addition of the second bird throws that off for me. I understand the sentiment behind the image, I just dont think it works for the essence of this particular challenge. That said, the first view of the photo is of a bird alone, so you do get that impact in the beginning. Focus is good on the top bird. Interesting portrayal, falls short on the challenge for me, but has a very nice unique factor. 6

Hungry Heart

Girl is certainly alone, but I don't get a feeling of solitude nor loneliness. The mood is actually kind of light to me, possibly because the lighting is bright and warm and the posing and action of the subject doesn't lend itself to a more negative or sad mood. Colors show well, and its a nice photo, but I don't connect to it very well. 4

Great image. Love the use of space and perspective. Nice dark mood to it, helps give the feeling of being lost in a vast unknown. Subject itself gets a bit lost in the background though, wish there was a way to make him/her a little more visible without losing the nice darkness. Focus is fantastic. Well done. 7

An interesting image - I like the busy-ness of it. The different valves and what not make for a nice b&w. Focus is good, I like the use of light. I don't really see a connection with the challenge though, beyond the title. I don't know motors so taking the image alone (without the title) nothing says solitude, loneliness or abandoned to me. Still a good photo. 6
