Angel Smileby NinjaMomComment: soft focus - possible cause - the canon 10d - depending on the the parameter settings takes a soft photo - the images need to be sharpened in post processing. basically any image from a high'ish end digital SLR camera will need to be sharpened on the computer.
second possibilty - you are relying too heavily on the camera to make things work for the image. ie. wrong AF focus point is locking focus.
the closest one to the subject if they are all active will grab the focus lock.
third possibility - the lense is a soft lense. you are using it at fstops outside the capabilities of the lens. ie. a cheap lense will perform poorly wide open ( say @ f:3.5 - or stopped down f:22 or higher )
