Washboard Fallsby mikearsComment: That's a fascinating fallen tree. I think maybe too much so that it takes the eye away from the true subject of long exposure. When I look at one I want to dart to the other.
I like the title. |

Long momentby kiskatComment: I know the longer exposure is meant to enhance the sense of motion for a wedding dance... The motion in this picture is such that nothing is really in a nice crisp focus, but things aren't 'blurry' enough so that I know it was a LE shot.
As a result I think it makes it look more like... an accidental long exposure than an intentionally planned one...
Basically I think the exposure should have been longer so I wouldn't think this.
I'm far from an expert in this. But it's what I got from the photo. |

Rural Trafficby AmmieComment: I see what you're doing. The isolation's nice. I don't think the singlestreak of light fits the landscape. Of course that's what you were trying to get. Maybe if it had continued along the whole road I'd've liked the shot more, but then again that wouldn't bring out the isolation that you're trying to bring up. |

Evening Fountainby acg83Comment: Very nice fountain.
I noticed there were trees in the background. I don't know if they'd've fitted the shape, but it might have been nice to have the black of the tree frame the shape of the fountain itself. I find the trees in the background distracting as they are I'm afraid. |

The Nightly Concourseby TheFerretComment: I like these kinds of photos, repeated symmetry going down the ranks.
Personally, I'd've preferred the lights going down the centre of the picture. So if the shot was taken half a metre or so to the left. |

The Spanby gyabanComment: This is a great shot. I like the... subtle use of long exposure here. |

Upon the Imaginary Seaby PaulComment: Love it. I love the action you see in it. It took me a while to realise the thing the kid's standing on was a boat.
9. Really enjoyed it. The expression on his face is stern like a pirate. Brilliant.
Changed my mind. 10. |

Hermione's Dry Dock; La Fayette's Shipby leonedavisComment: Great shot. I'm trying to decide what to make of the lack of boats.
I'll decide later on.
Later: While there aren't any boats in this shot, it undeniably pertains to boats. So it fits the bill in that regard.
But. At the same time if I hired someone to take a single photo of "Big boats, little boats, toy boats, dinghies, sailboats, rowboats, ocean liners, speed boats, cargo ships, cruise ships" I'd be disappointed to not see a boat in the shot. It'd definitely fit in a series called "boats".
I'm quite torn. I think 7. I do like the texutre, tone and colouring. |

My Fair Cousin Itt by PennyStreetComment: I've no idea what that is hanging over the front of the boat. It's unique for sure... I'm unsure if it adds or detracts from the photo. I'll decide later on in the week, I think :)
Later: I like the water. Like the sky. I like the chimney in the boat. I like the boats flanking it. I don't think it matters that it has a moustache :) |

someone's pouring warm gravy all over meby idealoddsComment: I don't think I see or get it... I'd like to know about it when it's done. Won't vote yet until I've had another gander at it later.
Later: Ah. Gravy boat. Of course. (was tired last night when I commented I guess so didn't 'get it') I like the idea. Definitely different.
It's an interesting photo. To be honest I can't see much that's going to make me vote highly in it. But don't take that as meaning I'm not voting high because it's different. I just don't think the different is done well... sorry. |
