All but Oneby bcenuComment: Great perspective shot. I think the camera mustn't've been perpendicular to the shelves when the shot was taken - the bottom shelf doesn't appear to be parallel with the bottom of the shot. Not a huge deal. Just something I thought I'd mention. |

8 calvesby wtheisenhalseyComment: It was obviously a bright day. It still looks very bright to me. Bit too bright to my eye, to be honest. By which I mean might you have been able to do some processing to reduce this? |

Can We Please Discuss This? by robinssongComment: That's a superb shot. It took me aback when I first saw it.
I love the colours, the blurring, the reflections, the eyes and the absolute sense of power that's portrayed over the frog. If I could have voted I would have given 9/10.
The only thing I don't like is the capitalisation of every word in the title, but that's absolutely a personal thing. |

Mean Girlby TerramarComment: This photograph is superb. Really really excellent.
There's a hint of her eyes. That's the only thing I'd change in it -- show more eye.
If I could vote in this challenge 9 or 10 for sure. |

Jim and Pupsby FourPointXComment: I feel the Vignette is too coarse here. Instead of drawing my eye to the subjects it kinda makes me look 'round at the corners and stuff. |

Composition Study - Bird Bathby PGerstComment: Originally posted by JustCaree: What is the purpose of this? What does it teach you? |
If I understand it right it's to see how the placement and angle of the subject of a photo affects the photo. That's basically what composition is -- what the photo composes of?
PGerst (in the forums) said: "Here is an example of something I did today. The photos aren't pretty, they aren't supposed to be."
It's a good idea, but I think the point would be better illustrated with a 'pretty photo' where some angles simply... don't work. It might be a challenge in itself to do that, so this works well.
However. You can still read things from these shots. At the first three distances you can't really see anything worthwhile (with the first one in particular you don't know it's a bird bath), and most of the picture is highly illuminated with the bright sun. How can we get rid of this? Step forward some.
At the last two distances you begin to see something that might be interesting, but there is still a lot of light when crawling. Depending on what was on the bath a certain angle might be more provocative than the others -- if there was a small bird you'd want to be standing. For a large one, any of the stances might work.
That's how I read it anyway. Hope I'm right :) |
