I feel the Vignette is too coarse here. Instead of drawing my eye to the subjects it kinda makes me look 'round at the corners and stuff.

Composition Study - Bird Bath

If I understand it right it's to see how the placement and angle of the subject of a photo affects the photo. That's basically what composition is -- what the photo composes of?

PGerst (in the forums) said: "Here is an example of something I did today. The photos aren't pretty, they aren't supposed to be."
It's a good idea, but I think the point would be better illustrated with a 'pretty photo' where some angles simply... don't work. It might be a challenge in itself to do that, so this works well.

However. You can still read things from these shots. At the first three distances you can't really see anything worthwhile (with the first one in particular you don't know it's a bird bath), and most of the picture is highly illuminated with the bright sun. How can we get rid of this? Step forward some.
At the last two distances you begin to see something that might be interesting, but there is still a lot of light when crawling. Depending on what was on the bath a certain angle might be more provocative than the others -- if there was a small bird you'd want to be standing. For a large one, any of the stances might work.

That's how I read it anyway. Hope I'm right :)

Very interesting shot. The crumpled horn, as you call it, really catches the eye.
Do you know what caused that?

Whoah! That really comes out at you. It's a great shot. What are the others eating that's so good?

I really think this is great. Would it be possible to see a colour version of it?

Very nice. It might have been nice to see the horns in the reflection too. But maybe it didn't look good so you didn't put them there.
These hairy bovines are brilliant!

I like this a lot. It's very different to everything else.
Having half of the left ear out of shot is a very nice touch.

If you stare at this picture long enough you begin to think it's a cow's head with legs. Fantastic perspective on this.
I like that it's focused on the eye, but I think I'm drawn to the snout (is that the terminology?) more. I don't think that takes away from the picture though.

I'm not sure about the title, but everything else in the picture is excellent.
Maybe the DOF is too narrow. It might have been nice to see the eyes too maybe.
