McNamara Landingby taterbugComment: Ok... I just realized that 3+ years ago this was among my selections in the "Pick your fav image from the person above you" side challenge. This week I had the realization that "picking a favorite" should have included a comment about why. So I've been back over the last 1600+ posts to find my choices and make amends for my omission.
Although it seems you've not been active here for a while, here's my belated comment:
I'm really glad that I took the time to go back and see my earlier choices. This remains as one of my favorites and the technique is an intriguing one. I may be inspired to give it a shot soon. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

I'm really glad that I took the time to go back and see my earlier choices. This remains as striking as the first time I saw it - gave it an 8 in the challenge. The color palette and fine detail really grab my attention. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

I'm really glad that I took the time to go back and see my earlier choices. This remains as one of my favorites (just added it formally). The colors, composition, and soft focus add to a strong composition and really grab my attention. The literary reference in the title is an added bonus. Nice work! Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

I like the dark, brooding nature of this photo. It caught my eye, and had I voted in the challenge, I'd certainly have scored it high. Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

Not sure why this was ranked so low. For me, it's a wonderful representation of the theme and effective in commanding my attention. Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

I really enjoy looking at (and creating) photo abstracts. This one particularly caught my eye. The color palette and deep saturation combines so well with the diagonal movement! I'm not usually a fan of thick borders, but here they add an enhancing dimenson. Nicely done!
Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |

The Wayby tangueraComment: So here's another uncommented photo that was among my picks in the "Pick your fav image from the person above you" side challenge several years back. This week I had the realization that "picking a favorite" should include a comment about why. So I'm back over the last 1600+ posts to make amends for my omission. Here's my belated comment:
I grew up at the beach near San Clemente and will always be drawn to the ocean, the shore, and the sea. This photo (and the story you posted about it) is wonderful. Full of spirit and whimsy. And as with your others, it holds up well to time. |

nothing left to sayby tangueraComment: Ok... I just realized that almost 6 years ago this was one of my picks in the "Pick your fav image from the person above you" side challenge. This week I had the realization that "picking a favorite" should include a comment about why. So I've gone back over the last 1600+ posts to make amends for my omissions. Here's my belated comment:
First off - DQ or not, it's a wonderful image. I love the mystery and the color palette (I'm going to have to check out the on1 preset - if it's in there recent versions). The composition is also strong - how you did that on a scanner is amazing! Anyway, I remember liking this one immediately. The composite parts are at once intriguingly vague and emotionally present. Wow.
Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. Sorry it took so long to realize I was missing an important part of this SC! |

Even though it seems you're not active at the moment, here's my belated comment:
I enjoy this kind of representational abstract photo for several reasons, including the well-crafted nature of light and texture and overall pleasing composition. More than that, it's simply striking, stopping me in my tracks and making me linger to appreciate and enjoy.
Finally, it holds up well to time. This exercise of mine (returning to view an image after several years) confirms my appreciation of your photo. |
