I have a black one and a white one; other colors are achieved with gels indeed.

Yes. Link. I think it is a good thing to remember that army men can actually protect people, not just kill them.
Great shot Luc. The angle is very original, the DoF is perfect, and the noise is well controlled. Congratulations on your nice finish! |

edit to say : you got f/22 on speedlites? Or was it speedlites? |
Thanks Debbi. Speedlites were indeed used on the lower left (bounced off an umbrella), on the tomato and the knife. Both upper right softbox and backlight are 400w studio flashes. |

Tomato Ninja by gyabanComment: Originally posted by h2: Excellent setup, lighting and execution again, Christophe. Congrats on the red (what else could it be). Some remarks I'd have, though: there should be tomato juice on the knife and overall I don't find this to be an off-centered composition. Great image, anyway. |
Thanks for your comment Oliver! I do agree with you: usually I compose the shot from the challenge's topic, but this one was done the other way. It just popped in my head, and then I thought it could fit in this challenge, even if the off-centered elements tend to balance each other.
As for the juice on knife, or even spraying from the slices, I tried... and failed :) We need more expert editing challenges! ;-) |

Yup, I knew this wouldn't be very clear. I wanted to suggest an escape try, by cutting the chains off using the tool while the "bad guys" were looking away.
I tried several angles, but nothing extremely convincing came out, unfortunately. |

IRONMAN by LVicariComment: Congratulations on your ribbon and fantastic score! The lighting is just splendid, very inspirational, impressive.
Edit to add: I would LOVE to see what kind of shots these "3" voters can pull out, since they rate this work so low... :-( What a shame. Why do they even vote in a photo challenge, since they obviously don't have a clue? Message edited by author 2010-11-15 01:12:04. |

I Put a Spell on Youby tangueraComment: Congratulations for this great work! It was one of my 2 highest votes in this challenge.
The only concern I have about it is technical: the light on the main subject, that doesn't seem totally consistent with the rest of the picture. For example, her left palm (right as we look) is lit by a frontal source that is not impacting the pumpkins, which contributes to this "not integrated" feeling. Also, the light on the red dress is probably a bit too strong.
Other than that, the composition, idea and humor are perfect :-) Oh, and the lightning bolts are awesome. Love it! |
