very beautiful picture... not exactly the best challenge for it perhaps though. might try putting the subject a little more off center

Thanks!
This is a good example of photoshop really helping a mediocre shot.
It wouldn't normally be legal b/c I did a layer with gaussian blur and soft light to give the soft focus and really bring out the highlights. I also used dodge/burn some, but the highlights on the leaves were caused by the light coming in under the bridge from the right. Exposure compensation -1/3.
These are next to a train yard downtown. I didn't have much choice in composition because they're leaning against a bridge support... chainlink fence with a distracting background to the right and left.

Hey! I really like the color in this pic.
First off, yes it fits the challenge. It would make a great magazine cover - lots of room for copy.
Technically it's clean. Those reflections are a pain to control. You can always wear black and try having someone hold up some black cloth to block out distractions, but it isn't easy. Sometimes it isn't really even worth the added trouble either. Chrome just IS shiny afterall.
Focus and clarity are good. Exposure/lighting is good.
As for the composition... I like where you chose to place the emblem. I'm not sure it's completely necessary to show that at all for a car magazine unless they're doing a special article on that make.
You probably want to just find the most interesting lines and curves to highlight. Without having a solid background behind the car though, it's hard to frame a shot that only shows the car. This is a nice one . I just don't know if it's the best one as I've never actually tried shooting a car before.
Overall, I think it probably would be used as a cover. It definitely has a target audience. For a stand-alone shot, however, it may be a little bit boring for the average voter.
Heck, who cares about the picture though when you have that car, huh?

This is a glass float for a fishing net. I had it sitting on sand and used a flashlight to shine light through. I noticed the snowflake-looking crystal formation on the inside of the glass and focused on it instead of showing the whole globe. The blue is natural. I just adjusted levels a tad but didn't change the coloring.

lol. nice view! I'd crop off the top since the moon doesnt really add to the shot. all the action is in the lower part and getting that horizon more off center might help.

Great shot. You definitely get great shot opportunities and take advantage of them! Nice stop motion shot and capture of emotion. The blacks seem a little light - maybe a slight curves adjustment? Congrats on the well-deserved win!

Very nice lighting/exposure. This shot definitely fit the challenge better than most. I'm personally not all that interested in the subject, but I can totally imagine it being on the cover of an architecture mag so I had to score it high. Very nice, clean work. Congrats!

Oops. Didn't have time to put in any comments before the challenge so here they are:
I don't work at an office or even have a home office so this challenge wasn't an easy one. I happened to be cleaning the attic that week and started running into all these antique office tools which gave me the idea to put them all together.
The "desk" is the vanity from a bedroom suite purchased by my grandparents just before he went to the war. He served on a destroyer in the Pacific, and my grandmother saved the paper. The picture is of her brother who also served in WWII.
The tape dispenser came from my grandfather's desk and is very old although I'm not sure how old. Apparently transparent tape came into use in the 30s. The lamp and phone are two old garage sale finds that both work, and the fan is a reproduction of a 1940s fan.
It's kind of like a "where's waldo" picture I guess in that everyone wanted to find something that doesn't fit. I'm just glad to see people spent that much time looking at it!

great shot until you get down to that huge white spot in the lower right. i'd find another way to crop and avoid that distraction. lovely blue tone
