I like the light and the way the dog is looking but that brown rug is ruining it for me. If that was black or a nice hardwood I think that would really improve the sot. And maybe just a touch more light in the shadows. As I continue to look I am also drawn to how the dog is looking out of the frame, it doesn't kill the shot here but better comp with more open space for the dog to look into would help imho.

I am commenting for the thread and have not looked at the other comments yet. For me It is lacking a punch, it seems very flat. The composition and framing is nice but I feel better light and better processing would help this.

Not sure what I would have given this in voting but I would like to say a 7. I love the lighting and am a fan of black and white. I think the centered comp works well for this shot. Not a WOW shot but still a very well done image.
