Through the Treesby chazoeComment: Originally I had you voted pretty low, ok really low, but now that I look at it again I really think the effect you created is cool. I can't look at it long because it does get my head spinning but I feel like I am flying through the trees and for that I am bumping your score up significantly. |

moonglowby chaliceComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
First Impressions:
Beautiful artistic shot of a flower.
Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus, Processing):
I love how you arranged the subject in this shot and bouncing the light off a plate for the background added a really nice feel to this. The only problem with the light is that it̢۪s a bit skewed. It would be nice to see the swirl of light more uniformly and it seems a bit off on the upper left.
In my opinion the color on this shot is beautiful. I love the contrasting colors and they are very pleasing to my eyes.
Focus is nice and sharp on the center but the parts that are blurred have an almost distracting halo around some of them. Your processing all seems well done but I wonder if the halos around the blurred leaves were caused through some of the processing?
Challenge:
Being a free study, yeah I think this met the challenge
Artistic/Emotion:
The colors of this on the soft background really give me a nice artistic feel to the shot.
Summary:
Ah the joys of a free study. This shot actually received a 9 from me in voting and I am a bit surprised at where it finished but the FS is notorious. I definitely think this should have scored at least a solid 6 but I think you were knocked down a little from the focus and halos. That and there are many voters that just tend to vote flowers lower because they are flowers. In the end a few, small technical issues hindered you as well as the shot not being captivating enough to really draw the voter in, this is especially important in a FS with 300+ entries.

Lost in Thoughtby stanmooreComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
First Impressions:
Very bright and vibrant colors
Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus, Processing):
This shot really seems pretty technically sound. Your comp, lighting, color and focus all seem pretty much spot on.
Challenge:
Being a free study, yeah I think this met the challenge
Artistic/Emotion:
The colors and the models pose really make this a lovely artistic shot, well done.
Summary:
8 challenges in and you are placing in the top 100 of a free study is not bad at all. You take excellent portraits. I would be very happy with this score in the free study as they are quite difficult to score really high in. Only a few sub 4 votes and they may very well have just been because the voter doesn̢۪t like the color or just isn̢۪t interested in portraits. In the end I think this scored well but the shot just lacked that something that makes the voter want to stay longer or keep coming back. You are off to a great start at DPC, I look forward to seeing your stuff in the future.

Looking Outby SoulJanceComment: This is a great shot, it received an 8 from me. I love the light and the darkness to it, for me there seems to be a sadness or depression in the look. Great work. |

Abstractby AllenPComment: I like this shot a lot but bummer about the text on there. You will probably be DQ for it,. I still give it a 9 even though it won't stick, sorry. |

Lakeshoreby scooter88Comment: I loved this shot and I think it met the challenge well. Imho it seems as though the sky and reflection are framing the shoreline. I think this deserves a second look, posting it on Posthumous Ribbons, Part IV thread. |
