Short stories are not novels.

Beautiful story. But the leaf was painted on a wall, not on the ground, and it was ivy.

Dunno.. I like the image, and the story you chose, but I can't really reward an image that is the wrong type of leaf, in the wrong place, not painted(might forgive that), and most certainly not from a novel.

3 4 - bumped a point because I liked the image so darn much. That splash of yellow is just such a strong contrast against the pavement.

Hmm. Might fit. Might not. I suppose I can worry about that less as the image itself is more than sufficiently deficient to merit no extraordinary attempts to understand it.

The image has a noise in the sky that is hard to describe, but I'd call it "large blotchy noise" and the image has otherwise been denoised to the consistency of melted plastic. Shadows here are massively too deep, and the slightly tilted composition does nothing for me.

Excellent. Other than period issues (that boat would have been COOL if it was an old log raft)... I think the image is very nice. Processing here leaves me feeling as though I'm looking at a very well done painting, and while it doesn't exactly evoke the grandness of the Mississippi, it's certainly coming very close to the hopes I had for this challenge.
