Into the Abyss by AllenPComment: Cool shot! The tilt does great things for the comp on this. Well done with the minimal rules as well. |

Filling the Cracksby sk8t969Comment: Congrats on a solid placement with what I thought was the most interesting and fun to view shot in the challenge, and there were a lot of very good entries, so good for you for finding these gals. Nothing in the challenge description required it to be a macro shot, this fits the challenge perfectly. |

Autumn in Illinois by tfarrell23Comment: I grew up in IL and this just makes me feel great memories of walking in the autumn leaves. The path of the trail as it exits the images keeps one on suspense as to what is around that corner. Wonderful light and perfect composition makes this an image to be very proud of.

Suspended by AllenPComment: The way the image is framed makes the trees seem to be going on and on forever. The folks on the bridge are needed too, otherwise it would be a little less interesting. Congrats on yet another ribbon! |

Danger by zymaraComment: DANG! Just going back into the past a bit here. Funny how the scoring has changed over the years. I think this a great find for the challenge. Would not expect to find the sign here and it is quite ironic to have it covered with sand. And a great score too! |

Concern for the Health of the Forestsby hahn23Comment: Originally posted by LydiaToo: I don't think bluebirds are concerned... since they have only instincts and not feelings, but this is beautiful. Love the composition.
I may or may not be voting, so please do not equate my comment with any score. |
How can you state that Bluebirds are not concerned or that they do not have feelings? Why can't the title mean a "General Sense" from anyone who has concern for the forests? What sort of shallow, self absorbed human thinking is that? I would imagine that if a horse or a dog has feelings, then a Blue bird would too. Does the size of your brain dictate whether a creature has feelings? I would image a Blue bird would have a certain amount of satifaction from raising thier chicks. And if the environment has changed because of things beyond thier control, it would affect them and they would be forced to build thier homes in other places. They do have a certain instincts, but they are not machines. This image should have been accepted better than it was in this challenge. I was totally surprised to see it finish where it did. |

Refuge from the Storm by timfythetooComment: Well done with thinking outside the box and the execution. This year was my first attempt at photographing fireworks, so I can really appreciate this image with the creativity. |
