Hehe he must be a tourist! Lovely joyful image, great BW conversion. A tad central for my liking.

I like that a few photographers have chosen to be OOB and not do "traditional" portrait shoots or orientation. Excellent backlighting and mood imbued in this image. Enough to show a fleeting emotion of pain and sadness. It took a while for me to notice her closed eye.

Scotland lose the Rugby against the Poms again? On a serious note, excellent light, focus and tones. Portrait orientation too!

Mixed signals. A Middle Eastern looking man but a western saying in landscape orientation. Not easy to vote this one...

More than just the face, but the story too...despite being in landscape orientation it does work. The use of Tungsten WB is very now.

Landscape not portrait :) Rules are meant to be broken but you are no doubt getting hammered. I personally like the adherence to 1. below

por·trait (pôrtrt, -trt, pr-)
n.
1. A likeness of a person, especially one showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer, for example.
2. A verbal picture or description, especially of a person.
adj.
Of or relating to the orientation of a page such that the longer side runs from top to bottom.

There are a number of portraits in this challenge that work outside of the normal run of the mill face on in studio image. Kudo's to those artists who have shown more than the traditional. This appears un-contrived. WD
