Anchoredby offiofComment: Nice texture and vibrant colors. Odd scene as well, which is always interesting.
I over-edit as a rule, so here's how I would have ruined this: First off, I maybe would have gotten lower and a bit further away from the boat to give it a deeper, vast feel, and I would have toned down the red in the clay/lake bed/whatever to make it look even dryer than it is, then dodged and burned the cracks to get them to pop a bit more and add a deeper feel to the image. Probably also desaturated it a bit to also play up the stark nature of the landscape and scene in general.
But those are just editing preferences. It's a great find and a great idea. |

Cloistered Lifeby jagarComment: Great photo with wide range of tones and design elements that is nearly hypnotic. Perfectly framed. Excellent. |

Spectator sportby millsaComment: I see a black eye coming your way. And stop checking out the goalie's rear. Clever photo. |

A Granular Studyby cynthiannComment: I can't believe this didn't do better, and no comments?! I really like it as a cool-toned macro abstract. I don't get it. |

the lookingby MichaelCComment: Outstanding find. Two photos looking at the looking subject and one looking at you/us. We're all looking at each other! Great composition, and nice mellow tones that lend a nostalgic innocence, as though this is a viewing in an old school meeting room. I think it would have been easy to go B&W with this, which would have lost that whole feeling. Awesome photo. |

Taking a Breakby banmornComment: Nice lines. Well spotted.
Playing devil's advocate, maybe a square crop of the top half would have been more powerful, as the downward arcing lines draw the eyes down through the image to where they meet the glass wall, and then down to the bottom of the frame. If it were a square crop, all that motion would lead the viewer right to your Waldo.
Or maybe that's not good, as Waldo's supposed to be hidden. I don't know. I just know there's some powerful movement in this composition. Cool. |
