Magical Mountain Morning

At first I was struck by how relatively flat the light was in this image, but having been up in the Rocky mountains early in the morning on the way to go skiing, I realized this very effectively captures the special light and mood of that time of day. The half submerged log/stump covered with a dusting of snow, placed so perfectly, is what makes this image for me. My top vote, along with a few others.

Lovely, tactile, a simple idea/theme executed and processed (with an added texture as far as I can tell) to provide a sense of mystery and interest for the eye as it scans the image. Got my top score, along with a few others.

Lovely light and background. A pleasing image but to my eyes too much "real estate" is devoted to the log, which is the least well lit part of the image.
