If only windows could talkby Yo_SpiffComment: Lovely textures and tones. I think the tower in the center actually helps hold it all together, it's the "hub", so to speak. Congratulations! |

Predator and prey by CoryComment: Congratulations on your PB and first ribbon. Lovely light on the coyote, and the oof grasses provide a great backdrop. |

That's OK. I knew at the outset that this more abstract image would not appeal to some people. I was delighted that it did as so well despite this, and the many positive comments I've received indicate that it struck a chord with several people. The images of mine that I enjoy the most include several more abstract ones and I made a decision recently to pursue that style more deliberately, at least for a while. It would be a sad day indeed if we ended up with DPC comprised of members all of whom had the same tastes. Thanks for the comments.
ETA, It's perhaps not so much the image's abstract quality as its simplicity, and the serenity that it conveys, which several of you have pointed out :-). In general I think sunsets are often better enjoyed than photographed, but there seemed to be a special quality in the light that night, and I had a hard time tearing myself away from the beach that evening which is how I came to get this capture.
A side note: It's at times like that evening that I really regret that Robert (Bear_music) cannot use the phone. I wasn't so far away, but too far to go and get him down to the beach in time to enjoy/photograph this too. :-( Message edited by author 2010-12-13 17:44:52. |

Encroachmentby vawendyComment: Wendy, I thought I had commented on this during the voting but see that I did not. Gave it a 9 which is really high for me. I love the textures in the foreground. Glad to see it made the top five, despite your earlier prognosis that a 6.6 would not make it in the top 10!! Congratulations. |
