awesome colors and great catch for this challenge. the only thing i find slightly distracting is the shadows, was there a way of coming back at a different time to take the shot? there may not have been. in any case, i like your entry a lot, you are in my top 5 this week. -- gr8photos (10)

great use of rule of thirds and negative space. great even black background. this one doesn't jump out at me for texture though, because so much of it is just plain black. the shell is just a tad overexposed. -- gr8photos (5)

lots of color, and all in focus. good idea for the texture challenge. now, if only you'd had a rat poking its head out! ;) seriously, this is a good entry for the challenge, but the photo itself doesn't do anything for me because there is no specific focal point. and i'm not sure how to suggest a change. -- gr8photos (4)

great wood texture. i took a couple of shots of wood but they didn't come out as well. i think it's a shame your DOF wasn't deeper, the foreground in the bottom of the photo seems blurry. all focus would've been nicer in my opinion. -- gr8photos (5)

hm. i know texture lends itself to abstract shots, but this one is a little to unfocused for my liking, and, not knowing what it is, the thing sticking out is distracting. probably just me being dumb, but at this point, unfortunately, your photo really doesn't do anything for me. sorry. -- gr8photos (3)

looking at the carpet, your DOF seems to be very narrow, just a little more if possible (it may not be with the macro shot) would be nice. the dog's nose is such a great idea for texture, but it is too dark. short of making the dog move (never works), would there have been a way of changing the lighting so that the texture of the nose became more visible? -- gr8photos (4)

hehehe. this seems to be the cuddly toy challenge (especially after that discussion about lisa's frog). nice focus. good idea. who knitted him/her? i like your evenly black background and that you tried to play with negative space. i think it didn't quite work (in my opinion) because the teddy takes up ALL of the bottom part of the picture instead of just part of it. but others may disagree with me here. -- gr8photos (5)

hm. this is an interesting take on texture, and i'm not quite sure what to think of it. the texture of the flag is really not there. apart from that (and, btw, NICE car!) you could have chosen better as to where to photograph this car (unless of course it isn't yours so you couldn't move it). the powerlines at the top, and the parking lot to the left are not the best places to show off the car. just my 2cents. -- gr8photos (3)

that's an interesting idea. leaves are an obvious choice for this challenge, but gold makes it different. so, while i like the idea, i'm not too sure about the exectuion. the highlights on the gold (and i know jewelry is hard to photograph) are distracting, i think an indirect lightsource would help there. i'm also guessing that you photographed the leaf on the wood table to add more texture? i just don't think it's the best background to show the gold off (use black) and if you do use the wood grain, try and find a spot that's evenly 'grained', there's a joint running to the right of the pendant. -- gr8photos (4)
