Homegrown Pencilsby xertionComment: good idea, in fact, i was toying with doing something similar, but ran out of time. i think i would've preferred it if you had cropped in closer on the pencils, all the dry and green grass takes up a lot of the photo and isn't so visually appealing to me. the watering can and the 'picked' pencils are a nice touch though. -- gr8photos (4) |

Sushi Sticksby MaYzComment: oh, my, i wonder whether you got the same looks from the waiter/waitress and constant questions whether you were ok that i got when i tried this in my local sushi place. great idea. *grin*. the pencils are positioned nicely in the shot, the soy sauce in the background is a little distracting, and i wish the sushi was a little more in focus (even though you may have chosen the shallow DOF deliberately, my personal preference would be all focus here). -- gr8photos (4) |

v .00by GordonComment: wow, we do have a lot of admin notes this week. i just totally love your photo. the composition is awesome, although i can see why some people think it's a border, i'm sure you will enlighten us on monday as to how you achieved the effect. very nice selective DOF, and placement of the pencils, but i probably would've chosen a 640x427 format to just slightly reduce the negative space w/out loosing the concept. also, your paper is ever so slightly wavy under the diagonal pencil. but i'm just nitpicking here. my top 5 this week. -- gr8photos (10) |

A Pencil with Historyby DigiPiqueComment: it sure looks like this pencil has a lot of history. i'm not too sold on the background, maybe paper or cardboard would've been more fitting for a pencil. also, if you could have rotated it a bit rather than photographing onto the flat side you could maybe highlight the colors and the shape a bit more. just a thought, would have to try it to see if it works. -- gr8photos (4) |

Tauriby ClubJuggleComment: i really like that you found a row of cars that are not just the same shape but also the same color. the indicator on the one car breaks up the repetition nicely. well done. -- gr8photos (8) |

Morning Harvestby puppet10Comment: that's a very nice arrangements, the sunshine is superb, and the green of the window frame rounds everything off nicely. your corn to the left and some of the tomatoes are a little dark, but that doesn't distract much from the photo because it does give it that early morning feel. -- gr8photos (8) |

New Matchby RemieComment: cool idea. nice white background. the only thing i'm not 100% sold on (and i'm also not sure how to change that) is that all the matches are leading my eyes to the middle of the shot ... and there's nothing there for the eye to focus on. -- gr8photos (7) |

Tiny Toesby aguerraComment: this photo is beautifully composed, but very grainy and pixelated around the edges. you either cropped it out of a bigger photo and have a low pix camera, or you saved it too small (it's 62k, you are allowed up to 150k). b&w works well here. i was going to comment that more contrast would be nice, but that makes the feet too dark (i tried it). good job -- gr8photos (7) |

New Forms For Rosy Futures!by JakComment: hm. there's an interesting idea. definitely new and unique, but i'm not sure whether the random arrangement looks too exciting for me (and i understand you couldn't go into the store and rearrange their wares). how many comments did you get that there should be a naked woman inside one of them? ;) -- gr8photos (5) |

Morning's Workby KazComment: what a beautiful spider's web, and well positioned. i think you could have highlighted that some more by maybe taking this picture early in the morning or late in the afternoon when there's not such a contrast between light and shade in the background or even just holding a piece of black cardboard behind the spider's web. as it stands, the highlights from the sunshine on the foilage in the background are distracting to me. -- gr8photos (5) |
