composition - it's hard to say what to do different since you can't just photograph from any angle inside a trashcan, but i have to admit i'm not overwhelmed by the angle. sorry.

my first impression on this image is that it leaves me puzzled ... i'm not sure what the finger on the crossed wooden parts (what are they a part off?) tells me.

challenge met - kind of. this was a very open challenge, so i won't say you didn't meet the challenge, *but* i'm not sure i know more about your part of the world now, sorry.

fall ... my favorite time of year here in virginia where i currently live. your photo makes me look forward to taking fall photos (leaves haven't quite turned yet).

composition / appeal -- good. i like how the laves seem to point out of the frame, and how you've included 3 partial leaves.
technical -- good, love the colors, and the blurry background which is just blurry enough to set off the leaves that are the subject but yet you can still distinguish the individual leaves in the background.

i love skylines and water, and this is a very nice nightshot of both. the yellows look warm and inviting and are nicely reflected in the water. the sillhouettes of the people adds to the scale of things. i can almost imagine myself sitting there with them, philosophising about life and such.

the sepia tones and the shut doors give me a feeling of abandonment, or being closed down. has the mill indeed been closed?
