Lord of the Lilliesby fotofrogComment: A nice enough shot, however, really a shot of a lily that happens to have a dragonfly on it rather than a shot of a dragonfly, at least in my opinion. Qualitywise, the focus is good, the background is blurry, but still within the context with the lily-pads and the colors are nice. I wonder if it would've been possible not to crop the flower to the right ... since it's just a bit it looks accidental even if it may not have been accidental. |

Grasshopperby ShannonComment: Challenge met. I love grasshoppers, especially when it's possible to capture them out in the open like this and not hiding behind lots of leaves or blades of grass. Also like that much of your background is monotone so the hopper stands out more. I guess you didn't get a chance to move around to get a pic more from the front before he (she?) hopped away? That always makes for a more interesting photo for me. Also, yours is quite grainy, I wonder whether that's because you cropped out of a large pic or a high ISO setting. |

On the menuby NukktaComment: Challenge met, there's bugs in your pic. Several even. Personally, I think a closeup of one of them might've been more interesting than a straight-down shot of them sitting in the egg carton. The shot's also a little dark. |

Lavender Loverby VivecaComment: Captured just at the right time, this is a tough one. Like the colors and the composition, but wish the image was larger and the focus was a bit crisper. |

Cicada...Seventeen-Year Locustby MarjoComment: Nicely captured. Did you pluck the flower and lay it on the white bckground? And the cicada let you do this? Either wow, or it's dead ;) Nice colors, and the focus is nice and crisp where it is. The hard thing with macros is that the DOF is so shallow and that you have to get it just in the right spot. In this case, I believe that would've been the eye, but that's OOF. |

Creepy Crawlerby JeileenComment: Creepy it is. Plus, you meet the challenge. Interesting format and nice that you left space to the right. It is cropped a bit tight on the left for my liking, and overall not as sharp as I'd prefer. Is this bug still alive? It somehow looks dead ... |

Blendingby pncowleyComment: Challenge met. The mantas really does blend in. Cool that you were able to get so close, unfortunately, the fact that it is blending in hurts the photograph IMO because it's hard to distinguish between the background and the mantas. Technicallly, you've exposed the shot well, lots of light and dark that you balanced well, and it's nice and focused. |

bluefly.......by undieyatchComment: Challenge met, even though I'd prefer to see an alive rather than a drowned insect. The biggest distraction here is all the dirt in and on top of the water. But the fly does have a kind of cool blue color. Never seen that before :) |

Can you guess who's hiding in here?by BJComment: A dandy long-legs? Met the challenge I guess but I would like to see more than just the legs. Focus is ok, as is the color and the unobtrusive background. I wonder what that red spot is? |

Charlotte's Webby connieComment: Very nice shot. Love the dew and b&w works, even though if the same people comment on your shot as on mine, they might disagree :( Nice focus and composition, even though I'd be happy to see just a little crop on the left (get rid of the OOF web and drops there) and a bit more breathing room to the right (although it's not like the bug's gonna go anywhere). Nice shot! |
