Having said that, it makes for a much better photo than just bricks & mortar :) | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 09/18/2003 10:34:38 AM | Beware of the Catby ofjordComment: Now there's an unusual photo. Usually photos of cats (or even animals in general) work best for me if you can see the eyes, and they are in sharp focus. Here, the eyes aren't even visible, and still, I got stopped by the thumbnail and wanted to have a closer look.
I like the bold blue sky and green grass plus the black cat (and not just because I have one myself). All intense colors. The angle is fantastic, not just because it provides an unusual view of the cat, but also because it ensures there's just sky behind the head and the shapes are much more separated than they might otherwise have been.
The title rounds things off nicely.
The only little nitpick I have is that little patch of burnt-out fur right where the collar is, but it's not big so not very distracting.
Great shot!
I hope you don't mind me posting this ... with all the discussions going on about how to comment and where to post, I thought I'd start browsing the low-comment photos from time to time and pick one and comment on it. :) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/17/2003 11:26:45 PM | Sun Upby pinbackComment: See, I know I should get up early one of these days ... this is a beautiful photo. You got the exposure just right, with wonderful colors. The composition is nice, too. The outlines of the rocks to lead you through the photo, the reflection of the sun leading to the rocks, pluas the different parts of the water, some smooth, some a little wavy just add some texture, too. Nicely done :) |

If the bug was in focus, too, you'd have a winner here in my opinion, but it is not in focus. I wonder what camera settings you used, I've started to use shutterpriority more and more for these shots because getting a certain shutterspeed is crucial to getting the insect in focus and in the end that's what it's all about. Higher ISO sometimes also does the trick if your camera allows it. I got to repeat it though, I do like the composition and framing :) |
