Nice idea, but the picture seems kind of dark and lifeless. The colors should be very interesting, but it looks like it was taken inside and not color corrected (sorry if I'm wrong...) Did you try correcting for indoor lighting and playing with the levels to brighten things up?

Beautiful picture, well done, but it seems like a stretch. The photo seems more about the bird with the appliance thrown in to meet the challenge. Probably impossible, but if you could have done something like the hummingbird and the flower reflected on the toaster, then it would put the appliance back as the subject and tie them more closely together.
