I actually like the gritty surface -- it adds to the overall feeling of the shot. A clean black surface doesn't really fit.

This shot is so incredibly stunning, I gave it a 7, but simply because my little brain couldn't come up with the symbolism. It seemed more like an informative shot than a symbolic shot. That's my fault and lack of imagination -- though I looked at it a long time trying to figure it out. Absolutely beautiful -- and congrats on the red!

oh wow... this one has such potential! Something isn't quite right in the composition, but the lighting on the person in the far right is wonderful, and the lighting on the folds of the blanket or whatever it is over the chair is downright exquisite! Clever idea to block the fire with the chair so it wasn't blown!
