I don't usually care for pictures of figurines. Also, I usually don't like the overly warm shots -- they look like the white balance is just off. But this one is different, and I'm not exactly sure why. I like your dof choice, the warmth is overdone, yet brings a touch of magic with it, and the lighting and processing is quite nice. 7

Love the processing on this -- and good choice with the negative space.

So incredibly well done. Stunningly beautiful and obviously the blue ribbon, imo.

You've inspired me -- I want to start thinking about light more. :)

I do agree -- however it's a very difficult area to shoot. The birds are actually quite dark, so you need to overexpose to get the details in the shadows. Even though I shoot RAW, when it's bright sunlight, you either lose the shadows or over expose the head/wing tops. Too bad it can't shoot fast enough to bracket while flying! :)

You're at the mercy of the light.

I'm so glad this ribboned!! Definitely my favorite of the challenge -- 9 from me, and it really should have been a 10 -- I must have been in a cranky mood when voting. :)

Superb! Awesome! And truly incredible!

I adore this!!! The cat is so incredibly well done -- the rest is fun and interesting -- but I want to spend all my time staring at the cat. :)

Huge, huge congrats on an awesome photo and top 10!

I almost did the same type of shot! Colonial Williamsburg has a great shop like this. But when I went to CW, I really wasn't in the mood to shoot for the challenge. I couldn't remember where the shop was, and didn't want to bother looking for it, so I took a few shots in a couple of places, thought maybe I had something I could use, and decided to go photograph birds instead. :)

I'm so glad I didn't look for the shop -- because your shot is truly excellent, and there's no way I could come anywhere near this. Beautifully done -- congrats on the yellow!
