Grapes of Wrathby snafflesComment: Very nicely done. It doesn't have that much to do with the novel, but I could still see it as a symbolic cover. One thing bothers me a tad -- it looks like the image is tilted... the drops aren't falling straight down, they're falling at an angle. It doesn't look quite right.

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment: Excellent! Fits the novel beautifully, love the dirty hand. Not sure of cutting off the fingers on the bottom and the negative space. I think I like the negative space, but would have liked the fingers? I would have cloned the white speck up on the background, as well (doesn't hurt the score, just a critique). -8- |

Lord of the Fliesby jaysonmcComment: Little young for Lord of the Flies, but very nice shot. I like the lighting and the textures. I wonder what it would have looked like if you had let it be even a bit more blown in the highlights. -7- |

Hold back the waterby whiterookComment: I'm having difficulties finding this novel. I'm only finding a song...
I like the water a lot, but the rocks and the sky seem a little flat. I'm curious what it would look like with a bit more contrast in the rocks. Also, your horizon is tilted.
I do like the diagonal slash that the rocks make in the composition.
Overall, nice picture, but it doesn't really evoke anything as is, and it's hard when I can't find the novel. -5- |

Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourtby illini75Comment: Interesting shot and a wonderful place, but the walls seem over processed, imo. I actually think the doorway is the most interesting part, and the processing of the walls distracts from the wonderful moodiness and loneliness of the doorway. I think the story is there in the doorway, but the trappings of the rest are taking over the story. -6- |

No Meatby Art RoflmaoComment: Next on shark week -- where to get a good candid.
Each year photographers are stupid enough to set up in this same, exact spot. This photographer had plenty of time to catch this scene before the great white went after him.
You, too, can get shots like this! And we can process them for you, post mortem! |
