The Artichoke, The Knife, and The Water: aka Dinner Prepby LydiaComment: I wish you hadn't added aka dinner prep. The title was awesome. :)
I'm giving this a 9 now, because I think I'd give it something lower in the week if it's impact fades. But I love the initial impact.
I find it difficult to shoot multiple objects and have them blend together into a cohesive whole. This is an excellent example of something that doesn't necessarily blend, but moves your eye through a picture without losing interest. Many times if your eye moves around, it's because it's distracted. There are few pictures that actually make my eye really roam, search, and want to keep searching more. I probably would have done the shot straight on to the sink, which would have been so incredibly wrong. The wonky angle gives this a tension and the water gives it movement.
I think this is the longest comment I've made in quite awhile, but I'm just surprised how interesting I find this, and how it's staying with me. Nice choices all the way around. -9- |

Salemby RKTComment: I found this completely wonderful. I'm of the opinion that silhouettes, even though there's a shadow component, really didn't fit the challenge very well. (though they just got 4s, 5s, and 6s from me -- not troll votes, since there is a shadow component)
That being said -- this was an 8 from me, and I'm kicking myself for not giving it a 9 or 10. This is so incredibly beautifully done. I could see this hanging in my family room. And I really wish it was a photo I had taken -- I'd be so incredibly proud of it.
Instead of having the whole "it's a silhouette, not really a shadow" thought -- I saw him more "hiding in the shadows". Just somehow, this one worked for me. And incredibly well. My favorite shot in the challenge. And I need to go fav it now. |

Nearly Headless Nick by vawendyComment: Originally posted by littlemav: You got my highest score, I was hopeing this was legal because it looked toooo real!!! Great Job my friend, humm gaffers tape, is that a theatrical product? My good ol' stand by Duck tape has too much shine for things like this.... |
The gaffers tape that I have seems to be a fabric tape, so there's no shine to it -- it's a nice, flat black and worked quite well for this! |
