A Quick Restby grahamgatorComment: Very nicely done, but I think the crop is actually a bit uncomfortable. This is one of the few times where I really would have liked to have the butterfly on the true 1/3 (vertically and horizontally), not just vertically. Otherwise nicely done. Looks like an American Lady? |

Masterfully done. Love every bit about it. -9- |

Juvenile Great Blue Heronby MaryOComment: You can't go wrong with a heron! :)
Something looks a little odd in his coloring. Did you lighten the eye? It seems to really glow where as that side of the face is really quite in shadow. I wonder if lightening and warming the head just a tad would yield a more pleasing result? |

watching the lightby mariucaComment: I like the negative space -- it makes the rest more inviting. However, I'm not sure of the placement. I feel like it's falling out of the frame on the right. I wonder if placing it at the bottom third and rotating it a bit would make the image stronger? |

3 x 3by SistoComment: When I'm going through and commenting, I'm trying to figure out if there's a purpose to the rule of thirds. Not all photos benefit by it. I think you took on too much by putting the rocks in the foreground. They don't seem to fit into the photo. The pilings and sky are such wonderful cool tones, and the water is soft as silky. The rocks just end up jarring. You could still have had the rule of thirds with the pilings and bird, and I think it would have been a much stronger photo. |

orange lightby lei_73Comment: I'm really liking this, but the oversaturation is painful on the right. Especially how it gets the really bright orange outline. It actually works on the left, but not on the right. I wonder if it would have worked much better bringing down the saturation by using a gradient mask, so that not only does the figure and focus fade, but the colors soften as well. |

Lizardby ladpupmoeComment: I love the head and the face, but there are nitpicky things that are getting to me a bit. The foreleg being cut off and the tones in the body being such a different color cast. For how great the head is, I think the rest pulls it down. I wonder if you would have been better off cropping this portrait and having the eye at the upper 1/3 cross section? |

Threeby bjoernComment: A good idea, but I don't know that the bottom of the photo is strong enough to place things on the top third. It points out the shallow depth of field and the fuzziness of the stem. If that were more interesting, it might be able to carry it off. As is, I think it leaves 2/3s of the photo at a lower quality than the flowers and it doesn't work for me. sorry. |

Dribbling is my favoriteby pgirish007Comment: I understand that they're on the right 1/3 line, but I think this is a case where I'd actually like them even closer to the lower 1/3 as well. I'm not sure centering vertically is the best choice here. A little more head room might be nice since that background is more interesting than the foreground. |
