Un-Forbidden Fruit by autoolComment: We were both lucky enough that this was the first pic in the challenge to pop up on my page -- helped to get me in the right frame of mind right away! |

Exam Roomby GeneralEComment: Thanks all for your comments -- my "strange" object has never been identified at any of several "guess the object" games, yet there is a picture of one in my older copy of The Joy Of Cooking. I think I'll wait a week before I reveal all, however...
I did use the on-camera flash, and I also intentionally left the lighting a little harsh and cold to accentuate the metallic elements. |

Beach Boys - Surfin' USA by byetkoComment: In addition to what's been mentioned, your choice of cropping and framing also contribute to the overall quality. And I think you've made it so if it's printed out at 24" x 12" it will wrap perfectly around an album cover. I'll be happy to make a mock-up for you if you want, or if you don't have page-layout software. |

Where Have All The Flowers Gone?by GeneralEComment: Originally posted by Swashbuckler: Paul, this does grow on a person and the lyrics help the sentiment along. I think I have a better understanding of this piece. Thanks for bringing me back. Were I given the chance to change your score, I think I would have bumped it one or two points. The sideways picture is supposed to be saying to us - This person is no longer here - right? |
Right...I wanted a photo of someone in uniform, but the only thing I had handy was a photo of Isaac in his Halloween sailor suit when he was about 2.
Flowers are a traditional metaphor for Youth. He's fallen, as are the dead blooms.
I was undecided about whether to include the flowers or just the headless stems; the photo and frame were a (relatively) last-minute addition.
It was set up in a small box with some white tissue; shot it outside in bright sun (leaning it against my car).
Of course, if I could ever get off the soapbox for even one week I've now thought up some song titles which would make dandy photos, although I already gave the best one away in a forum post...hmmm...something about "loose lips..."
Thanks again for the comments. |

Too Many Goldfish Martinisby spidermanComment: Now that the voting's over I think you should touch-up a hi-res version and make a print...maybe a thin orange strip and a thinker black border would work. It's a great idea I predict will be imitated soon... |

Knights In White Satinby jmsetzlerComment: Originally posted by Gracious: John, This is the song my husband and I wanted for our first dance, at our wedding. It was a little complicated for a quartet, so we settled on Color My World, by Chicago. Moody Blues were our favorite group though.
Good image. |
Gee...I always found it relatively easy to play...if you're interested I'll post a couple of versions you can download -- send me an email.
John, beautiful photo. The actual title is spelled "Nights" but I also would have named this photo as you did... |
