There is a scene in the movie Toy Story which almost exactly follows this theme; Woody sees that Syd (their tormentor) has left the door ajar a crack and shouts "Buzz [Lightyear]! The Door! We're Free!"

Shooting a jail cell door ajar might make the interpretation more obvious, but your use of grainy darkness accomplishes much the same purpose. Well done!

Good job integrating the reflected flags into the composition -- too bad they weren't a couple of feet farther apart so they'd clear the left column of names.

I like how the bird's outline shows so well against the buildings. I'd consider taking a little off the left, to just take off the second corner of the ledge. I think the corner and the "leaning" light-colored buildings behind it pull attention away from the subject.

Like the exposure and detail (esp. reflection) a lot, but the color seems a little odd to me (see thread on color-blindness). If I'd been lucky or good enough to have taken this, I'd probably experiment with color-shifting, duotone, or B+W.

Interesting that this and K-Rob's shot The Pier are displayed next to each other, because I couldn't help but look at your flat background and think about dropping a faded New York skyline into that space, and there was the source image right next to it.

It's a great idea, good compositionand exposure, cool clock. The numbers are "stacked" LEDs? I have a very primitive calculator made with numbers like that.
