A great example of how allowing more editing would help -- I'd apply a perspective correction to straighten out the building on the far right (and the lampposts on the left, but they don't bother me as much). Everything else looks greta.

Your image adds a degree of "moodiness" not typical of shots from this location. I've been working recently on capturing cloud detail and texture like that, but not quite so successfully.

His grip on the brush looks a little funny -- maybe if he'd been holding it up. Tom's also frequently pictured in a tattered straw hat. Also, although the light looks strong, it looks a bit harsh -- logical since it's likely Winter and not Summer lighting. A Sepia or Duotone treatment may have made this look a little sunnier ...
Overall a good representation of a classic scene from the book.
